  13.                       CONFERENCE RULES & PURPOSES

  17. PURPOSE:  Liberty Northwest BBS Network is a discussion Conference
  18. directed toward discussion of political, economic, and social
  19. issues of the day from a Conservative, Libertarian and Constitutionalist
  20. perspective.  All participants are welcome, however the Moderator
  21. reserves the right to limit discussion, restrict discussion to on-topic
  22. issues, or otherwise close discussion and set policy.  Participants
  23. disagreeing with the Moderator are directed to submit such disagreements
  24. to the Moderator via NETMAIL, not on the Liberty Northwest Conference
  25. echo.  Generally, all political, economic and social issues are on-topic,
  26. and a variety of perspectives and philosophy is expected and encouraged.

  28. 1.  Liberty Northwest BBS Network utilizes the FidoNet standards for
  29. transmission, usage and access.  Therefore current FidoNet policy rules
  30. and definitions apply.  Should a conflict or discrepancy arise between
  31. LIB_NW rules and those of current FidoNet policy, FidoNet policy
  32. supersedes those set by Liberty Northwest in all cases.

  34. 2.  Purpose:  Liberty Northwest BBS Network is a discussion conference.
  35. This is further defined as intra-personal communication between members
  36. and participants of the Liberty Northwest BBS Network.  Crossposting
  37. of messages between members of other conferences are prohibited unless
  38. a clear dialogue between LIB_NW participants can be established  within
  39. the Conference itself.  If it cannot, then it has no place or purpose
  40. on the LIB_NW Conference.

  42. 3.  Resource Information:  Participants are free to post (sparingly)
  43. resource information to include Conservative, Libertarian and
  44. Constitutionalist meetings, group discussions, and other pertinent
  45. information that back up and supplement ongoing discussion topics on
  46. the Conference.  Multiple posting of lengthy and fragmented information
  47. is prohibited without Moderator approval in advance.

  49. 4.  Decorum:  All participants are expected to write and converse in a
  50. responsible manner.  You may disagree with an opponent, however you
  51. should treat each individual with the same degree of respect that you
  52. would wish to be treated yourself.  Sort of the "Golden Rule" of
  53. etiquette which should be understood by all.  Libelous or slanderous
  54. language toward any individual is not only unworthy of mature/adult
  55. discussion, it is not welcome on this Conference.

  57. 5.  Human dignity.  Regardless of perspective, philosophy or ideology,
  58. all persons deserve the dignity and respect that you feel is due 
  59. yourself.  Anyone expressing racial, ethnic, religious or slurs or
  60. comments should be ignored, and if done deliberately and with malice,
  61. will not be tolerated. Proselytizing and other "salesmanlike" behaviour
  62. will not be tolerated.  Matters and concerns of a religious nature are
  63. welcome, but preaching sermons and attempting to entice others to
  64. accept your particular religious views go beyond the purpose of this
  65. Conference.

  67. 6.  Political restraints:  None.  All perspectives are invited.
  68.  
  69. 7.  Grievances and protocol.  If any participant feels personally
  70. offended by another participant on the conference, a
  71. private NETMAIL message to the Moderator would normally be in order
  72. if the two parties in question cannot otherwise resolve a particular
  73. conflict.  If subject matter is a source of conflict, then the
  74. offended party should normally post the alleged offense directly to
  75. the Conference itself and not the Moderator, since the input of
  76. others concerning the subject would be pertinent to resolving the
  77. issue.

  79. 8.  In order to keep the rules and standards of the echo at a bare
  80. minimum, participants are asked to contribute as responsible adults.
  81. The above rules and standards are subject to change at any time
  82. when it becomes necessary to do so.
